Sainsbury Virtual Museum
Review: An innovative website that gives opportunity to explore the lives of people in late Victorian Britain as employees and customers of Sainsbury’s.
Features include (among others) ‘Sainsbury’s Time line” a chronological account of the firm, a visit the shop area where children can visit and explore a Victorian shop and compare it to today’s supermarkets etc. There’s also a teacher’s zone and reference library on the site.
For younger children try the children’s gallery on ‘ground floor’. Take some time exploring around, it has got a wealth of materials that can be adopted suitably.
Suitable for ages: 4 years to KS3 (ks4 resources still in process)
